There's an old adage I love – measure twice, cut once. I can't remember where I first heard it but I am guessing it was from my nana who was a great maker. I love the reminder to take things slowly, to be careful, to take your time.
I love the feeling of making something and I have to stop myself rushing pell-mell to the end of a project. When I do, I make a bunch of mistakes, get exhausted and don't enjoy it at all. When I can remember to slow down and hear the sound of the scissors cutting the fabric, everything is much, much better!
